Eternal Love
I was wandering around in Second Life, exploring spooky places and suddenly I saw this creature in the distance. She was wearing a white lace dress and an umbrella. Her hair was messy and had red streaks in it. I ventured on to get closer only to find out that she was on a graveyard and.... She appeared to be dead but not able to leave to the next realm for her eternal rest.
She had two white rats with her. One in her hair and the other on her shoulder.
I got closer to her and noticed the sadness in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" I asked her. She replied with that she walking around when she heard an organ play and it was exact the same melody that her husband used to play. She looked down to her dress and told me that she had lost him and she wishes he could see her one more time in this lace dress. It was his favorite and they used to take walks on sunday mornings, followed by a picnic in the sun while she was wearing the gown.
Her story made me feel sad for her and it was there and then that I decided to try and help her. I placed my hand on her shoulder, or what's left of it as she was dead and clearly had no skin anymore. Her bones felt cold and it starteld me a little, it's not every day you meet a dead woman. I hoped she did not notice.
"Maybe it is your husband playing the organ, why don't we go and find out?"
She carefully nodded and I saw a little hope appear in her eyes.
Together we walked closer to where the melody came from and suddenly it stopped. The door swung open and there was this bright light surrounding a figure.
"My Love!" I heard the skeleton lady say with excitement in her voice. She ran towards him and he ran towards her. I saw her reach out her hand and noticed a ring. I figured that must have been their wedding band.
Once they got closer the light became brighter and I must have been seeing things but for a moment I thought the light formed the shape of a heart as soon as they fell in each others embrace.
The light dissappeared and they both gazed at me with smiles on their faces.
"Thank you, Luna." they both said. I scratched my head wondering how they knew my name as we never formerly introduced ourselfs, but I was happy that they were reunited again and I nodded with a smile.
The couple turned around and walked off to a clearing where suddenly they both faded away.
Suddenly I heard birds sing and felt the warmth of the morning sun on my face as I opened my eyes.
I realised I dreamed it all... Or did I? As I found a handwritten thank you note on my windowsil.
I wiped the sleep out of my eyes and decided to get some coffee while I processed it all.
